My name is “Ms. Debbie” and I have been the health clerk here at Adams since November of 1998. My hours are 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Our District Nurse is Donna Ball and she is here at Adams a few days/week for a few hours/day. She is also the District Nurse at RUHS, Redondo Shores, Washington and Beryl Elementary Schools.

Health Office Facts:
·        There are between 25-35 students who come to the health office each day for illnesses, injuries, and those needing to have medication administered. We also oversee procedures for students with special needs (i.e., diabetic students).
·        If students have a fever of 100 degrees or more, we do not allow them to stay in school. A parent is called to pick up the student. We ask that students be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school.
·        A parent is also called when a student is suspected of having pink eye, a suspicious rash, or any type of communicable disease. The student will need to be picked up from school. A doctor’s note is required upon the student’s return to school, or the student needs to be symptom-free. The student must see the health clerk upon returning to school.
·        Students may not carry medication—except inhalers for asthma. For ALL medications (including inhalers which are carried and medication kept in the health office) students must have a medication form on file in the health office. This form must have parent signature, as well as doctor’s orders/signature. The medication form is available in the health office.
·        If you wish your child to be excused from P.E., please write a note and have the student bring it to the health office. A purple P.E. excuse will then be given to the student to give to his/her P.E. teacher. Parents may excuse their child for no more than 3 consecutive calendar days. After that, a doctor’s note is required..
·        If a student sustains an injury requiring special care or has any P.E. restrictions (i.e., cast, splint, sling, crutches, etc.), please provide the health office with a doctor’s note stating the diagnosis of the injury and any P.E. restrictions.

I absolutely love working at Adams and really enjoy caring for our Adams Eagles!
