GATE

The RBUSD Gifted and Talented

The RBUSD Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program aims to make sure those students who demonstrate outstanding ability or potential are given the opportunity to make the most of their talents and capabilities. The GATE program provides high end learning opportunities which allow students to prosper in stimulating academic and social environments.

Winter Enrichment Classes

Three GATE Enrichment Classes will be offered at Adams:     

  • Math is not a Spectator Game - Tuesdays in Room 8 with Mrs. Pal
  • Designer Math - Wednesdays in Room 2 with Mrs. Ma
  • Song Writing - Thursdays in the Band Room with Mr. Buchen

These classes start the first week of February and run for 10 weeks.

 

Fall Enrichment Classes

Two GATE Enrichment Classes will be offered this Fall at Adams on Thursdays:     

  • King Arthur and the Round Table (3:15 - 4:15pm) and
  • History through the Visual and Performing Arts Lens (3 - 4pm).     

These classes start Thursday, October 22nd and run for 5 weeks. If your GATE student is interested, please fill out the attached Intent to Participate  and turn it in to Mrs. Pal in Room 8 by Monday, October 12th.

Parent Information Nights

The next GATE Parent Information Night will be:

  • on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
  • at Jefferson School Cafeteria - 600 Harkness Lane, Redondo Beach

The topic is, "The Gifted Brain: Is there a Difference?"  In this session, parents will explore this often-asked question. Do we really know if there is a difference? What do some of the studies say? Discussions will include parenting the gifted child- potential considerations and suggestions.
