Play the Kahoot if you missed Friday's meeting. You can play it on your own and still compete with others in the class.

Your task: Write a narrative that tells a story about something that happened to you. It should mostly be true but you can make up parts to make it more interesting.

Here are all the documents you will need write a narrative. Complete them in this order:
1. Complete the Plot Diagram Document (can be written on paper)
2. Write the narrative on the copy we made for you. Write your name and title on the document.
3. Use the transition words to help your writing flow. Make sure to use dialogue (characters talking) in your writing.
4. Revise/edit your writing. You can always share it with a friend, sibling or parent for editing help.
5. Check over the rubric as you revise/edit so you have all the components we are looking for.

Don't forget to go back and review the Narrative slide show we posted last week. Also, we've attached a link to excellent student personal narratives samples. Read through them to see how they were structured and what elements the students used that you could also use in your writing.

After completing the assignments for Monday-Wednesday, complete the attached brainstorming chart.

When you finish the book, complete the statement by adding at least two pieces of textual evidence that support your reaction.

March 30-April 3
Finish reading the novel, chapters 9-12, and answer the comprehension questions on Google Classroom. The Circuit Full Novel PDF goes beyond 12 chapters but the books we checked out in class ends on Chapter 12. Feel free to read the additional chapters on the PDF but we will not be discussing those chapters.

March 23-27
Read chapter 4-8 and answer the comprehension questions for each chapter on the document. (Due March 30)

March 18-23
Read the first 3 chapters of the novel and answer the comprehension questions on the following document.
We've attached the online book and a slideshow with images for each chapter that you can look at. It will help you get a visual picture of Francisco's life.

After reading Chapter 10: Learning the Game, reflect on how you felt when Gabriel got fired after standing up to the contratista who expected him to pull a plow like an oxen. Make sure to read and reply to your classmates.

1. Choose a blue card out of the bag on the Mastery Pursuit wall or one from the document posted to this assignment.
2. Read the prompt and then complete the necessary research on the internet to gain more knowledge about the topic.
3. The writing assignment can be completed by hand or on a Google doc. If you complete it by hand, take a picture of it and turn it into the assignment.

In chapter 3 "Inside Out", Francisco starts his first year of school in a new country. He becomes friends with a boy in his class, Arthur, because they can both speak Spanish. When his teacher hears Francisco speaking Spanish to him she becomes angry and yells, "NO!" She points her finger at him and repeats, "English! English!"

You will write a 4 paragraph essay about the effects of the Great Depression using the 5 sources (articles) given to you in class. First, complete the chart with evidence and explanation from each source. Second, complete the rough draft handout given to you in class. Finally, type your final draft on the document below. Make sure to spend time revising and editing your writing.

Our Bookopoly Potluck will be on Friday, December 20 during 5th period. If possible, please bring an item to share with the class. You can drop the item off before school starts.

Using the handouts given to you in class, write a 30 word poem about yourself. Please type the poem on a document and add images that symbolize who you are.
