Mrs. Kwapisz Room 22

About Me:

Hi! I'm Mrs. Kwapisz (pronounced Kwah-pish) and this is my 13th year teaching 7th grade at Adams. What I love most about teaching is having the opportunity to help my students grow--in their thinking, their learning, and how they view the world.

I'm a graduate of the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) and Cal State Long Beach.  Even though I grew up in Michigan, I've been living in the Los Angeles area for 14 years. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two sons. Some of my favorite things include going to the beach or on hikes, traveling, Zumba classes, and cooking.  I also enjoy reading when I have the time! The last book I read was Trevor Noah's Born a Crime, and my favorite series is Harry Potter. I will be on maternity leave for the first quarter, but I look forward to getting to know all of you and to an outstanding 2018-2019 school year!

About your Substitute Teacher:

Hi! I'm Jennifer Minich (pronounced Minick) I was born and raised in Redondo Beach and I am a graduate of RUHS... GO SEHAWKS! Before venturing into a teaching career, I worked as a journalist. I wrote for several publications, including The Beach Reporter where I enjoyed covering local news as well as writing a fun weekly column. I worked at Parras Middle School as a Language Arts teacher, creative writing teacher and yearbook adviser, before becoming a full-time mom to my two children (my daughter, age 5 and my son, age 3.)  During the last few years I have kept "my teaching feet wet" serving as a substitute teacher at several schools within RBUSD. I am excited to start the year off with you, until Mrs. Kwapisz returns. Some of my favorite activities to do with my family include paddle boarding, skiing, biking and hanging at the beach. Teaching is a passion of mine and I am excited to be back in the classroom full-time and looking forward to getting to know all of you!
