Tuesday, February 20, 2018: 1. Finish reading and annotating pages 57-58 in notebook if not done in class (mark "What Surprised You? What the Author Thought You Already Knew?  What Changed, Challenged, or Confirmed What You Already Knew)    2.  Complete Syrian Refugee Camp gallery walk for six slides.  3.  Read for Bookopoly.  DYRT slide #5 due on Tuesday, 3/6
Week of 2/12-2/15
Tuesday, February 18, 2018:  All due on Tuesday, 1/20-  1.  Complete complex sentence work on page 41 of your notebook. 
2.  Read pages 52-54 in your notebook ("Garana's Story") and mark:
A.  What surprised you- use an ! and jot down why 
B.  What confused you/What the author thought that you already knew- use a ? and jot down why confusing
3.  Fill out the Really?? template worksheet for what surprised you in "Garana's Story."  (see sample that we did on page 47 in class if confused)
Monday, February 12, 2018:  1.  Finish worksheet on complex sentences.  2.  Finish reading pages 45-46 in your notebook and mark things that surprised you with an annotation for the article "Hard at Work."  3.  Read for Bookopoly.
Week of 2/5-2/9
Thursday, February 8, 2018:  1.  Find a Bookopoly book to show Mrs. Rummler by Monday, 2/12.  2.  Complete page 39 in your notebook.  (Write original complex sentences under the tab and color code like we did on the front tab.  
Tuesday, February 6, 2018:  1.  Complete grammar worksheet 73 for next class.  2. Find a Bookopoly book by Monday, 2/12.

Thursday, February 1, 2018:  No homework!  Enjoy your semester break!  Remember to come in during advisement tomorrow if you aren't done with your "Passage to Freedom" essay.
Tuesday, January 30, 2018:  1.  Watch two videos on EdPuzzle about Mr. Sugihara.
Monday, January 29, 2018:  1.  Bookopoly DYRT slide #4 due tomorrow, 1/30.  2.  Watch video on thesis statements on EdPuzzle.
Week of 1/22-1/26
Thursday, January 25, 2018:  1.  Compose 3 or 4 potential hooks for your essay.  Use resources on Google Classroom (samples leads).  Don't stress...just try your best.  :)  2. Bookopoly DYRT slide #4 due on Tuesday, January 30th.
Tuesday, January 23, 2018:  Finish characterization chart for Mr. Sugihara.  Remember that you can use the "commentary starters" on the orange sheet when completing the third column on explanation/commentary.  2.  Review for a quiz on simple sentences with compound subjects or compound predicates and compound sentences (I posted student found practice on Google Classroom).  Bookopoly DYRT slide #4 due on Tuesday, January 30th.
Monday, January 22, 2018:  1.  Read for Bookopoly.  DYRT slide #4 due on Tuesday, January 30th.  2.  Review your rubric for DYRT slide #3 while looking at DYRT slide #3 to see where you can make improvements this time.  
Week of 1/15-1/19
Friday, January 19, 2018:  Grammar worksheet (1-7) due Monday, 1/22.  Use page 31 in your notebook for a reference.   2.  Vocabulary quiz on "Passage to Freedom" on Monday, 1/22.  Be sure to fix any errors on your vocab boxes by 1/22.  3. Bookopoly DYRT slide due 1/30.
Thursday, January 18, 2018:  Finish close read of "Passage to Freedom" (paragraphs 30-52).  Remember to use symbols and annotate in the margins of each chunk  2.  Read for Bookopoly. DYRT slide #4 due on January 30th.  Vocabulary quiz on "Passage to Freedom" on Monday, 1/22.
Tuesday, January 16, 2018:  1.  Finish concluding paragraph for your performance task at home. (See slideshow in GC)  If not done with body paragraphs, then you are completing it during a working lunch and/or during advisement on Tuesday and Wednesday.  2.  Read for Bookopoly.  DYRT slide due January 30th.

Friday, January 12, 2018:  1.  Closely read the first two pages of "Passage to Freedom" using symbols and annotate the margins.  (up to paragraph 20).  2.  Read for Bookopoly.  DYRT Slide #4 due on Tuesday, January 20th.  
Thursday, January 11, 2018:  Read for Bookopoly.
Tuesday, January 9, 2018:  1.  vocabulary boxes for "Passage to Freedom Vocabulary" due Thursday, 1/11. (I uploaded Google Slide presentations with definitions in case you didn't finish in class.  Can use for synonyms and antonyms)  2.  Read for Bookopoly.
Week of 1/2-1/5
Thursday, January 4, 2018:  1.  Finish paragraph contrasting two videos on internment camps by the end of the school day tomorrow.  (Remember that you can come in and work in my class during advisement tomorrow).  2.  Finish note-taking for part 1 of the performance task.  (due Tuesday, 1/9)  3.  Read for Bookopoly
Tuesday, January 2, 2018:  1.  Complete worksheet 92 on compound sentences.  2.  Read for Bookopoly book #4.  DYRT slide #4 due on Tuesday, January 30th
