Campus Policies

Main Office Hours

The school campus opens at 7:30am with teacher supervision provided from that time until 15 minutes after the dismissal bell. Students who are not participating in an after- school activity must leave the campus within 15 minutes of dismissal time. The front office hours are 7:30am-3:30pm.

Visitors On Campus

All persons visiting campus while school is in session must check in through the office and scan a valid Driver’s License. Please utilize the kiosk in the front office to sign in and out when visiting campus. All guests must receive a guest sticker prior to volunteering on campus.  Visitors should have a specific purpose for visiting campus. It is important that our school community is aware that State Penal Code 653b prohibits loitering on or nearby a public school. Administration and/or supervisors will respond to any report of loitering on or near campus.

Skateboard, Scooters, E-Bikes, and Bikes

All wheeled transportation must be walked onto campus. E-bikes, bicycles, and scooters must be parked and secured in the designated parking areas. To ensure responsible e-bike use, all students must complete a district-approved e-bike safety education program before students are permitted to bring e-bikes on campus. Once certified, students remain so throughout their enrollment with RBUSD, unless they are cited for a violation of misuse of the e-bike. Visit RBUSD E-bike Certification.

Lunch & Item Drop-Off

All Redondo Beach schools are closed campuses. No lunch passes will be issued at any time unless requested by a physician. The front office does not accept deliveries from outside services (Doordash, Ubereats etc.). In an effort to minimize classroom distraction we ask parents/guardians not to bring students items during the school day. If something must be dropped off, we will label it, and leave it on the shelf in the front office for the student to pick up during non-instructional time. Additionally, we kindly ask that parents/guardians do not drop off fast-food for students.

Library

The library/media center will be open during school hours. Students must have a pass to visit the library during class time. The library will be open during nutrition and lunch, schedule permitting. Students must remain quiet, calm, and respectful while in the library. Students may check out books in the library and must return or renew them on or before the due date. Fines will be charged for unreturned books.

Medication

Medication, both prescription and non-prescription, may only be administered by school personnel with the appropriate form signed by both the physician and parent. This form will be kept on file in the health office. The physician must include the name of the medication, strength, scheduled dosage and expiration date. Medication must be in the original container and brought by the parent to the health office where it will be kept in a locked cabinet.

Health Services

Students must obtain permission and a hall pass from their teacher in order to come to the health office or main office. The student or health clerk may call home from the office phone if necessary. Students may not call or text their parents from their personal device during the school day. This is a violation of our cell phone policy, and it is important that a student who is not feeling well communicates with a staff member who is on campus.

Cafeteria Procedures

Students must bring their ID to snack/lunch to help the line move quickly. Students may choose to get breakfast from the cafeteria before school between 7:30am and 8:00am, or during the snack period. Food is only allowed in the designated cafeteria and quad areas. Eating is not permitted in classrooms, gym, PE locker rooms, bathrooms, or the field. Students are required to pick up and discard their trash to help keep the campus clean.

Snack

When the bell rings to begin snack, students are expected to transition directly to the quad or cafeteria. Students must remain in the supervised quad or cafeterias areas for the entire snack period. To purchase items in the snack line, students can pay cash or parents can add money to a personal electronic student account that links to their student ID. Please see the Adams website “Nutrition Services” under the Parent tab.

Lunch

When the bell rings to begin lunch, students transition to the cafeteria areas immediately with their ID and/or food. Students may not re-enter the hallways during the lunch period. After eating, ensure that your area is clean, then walk down the main hall to the field area. Staff will use whistles to provide a warning prior to the end of each lunch period to allow students time to walk up from the field. When the bell rings to end your designated lunch period, walk through PE gate and go straight to class.
