Elective Course Selection for 2014-15

Course Selection for 2014-15 opens March 24.  Current AMS students will receive a presentation through their English class where they will get their course selection sheets.  Incoming students will also receive the course selection sheet from their 5th grade teachers.

Students will use the course selection sheet to rank their top three elective choices and then input their top choice (and only their top choice) into the Infinite Campus Student Portal.  Instructions will be given out through English Language Arts classes and below is a link to a presentation to help walk students and parents through the process.

Course selection will close on April 18, 2014.  Course selection forms and a printed "Student Summary" must be returned to English Language Arts Teachers by April 18th.  Students who do not input their classes and return their forms will be given last priority for their elective class.

LCAP Survey and PTA Stakeholder Meetings

California's new education funding model, the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), is a major reform in the way public school districts receive money from the state. Previously school districts received a significant portion of money without restrictions, but much of the funding was restricted to specific programs, called categorical programs. Under LCFF, the responsibility for allocating funds to meet students' needs is given to local governing boards. To demonstrate how funds will be used to address eight priorities established by the state, school districts must develop and approve a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) no later than July 1, 2014. The District is soliciting input from many groups including parents. As parents you have 2 opportunities to provide input.

  1. An online survey is available on the school district's website in order to reach out to any individual interested in giving input into the development of the LCAP. Please take the time to fill this out.
  2. The district will be holding PTA Stakeholder Group Meetings at the District Office Board Room at 1401 Inglewood Avenue. Meetings will be Wednesday, March 12th from 6:00-7:30 PM and Monday, March 17, from 8:00 - 9:00 AM.

If you are looking for more details, check out the RBUSD Webpage designed to keep parents, staff, and community members informed about the LCFF and LCAP.
