Strategies to support your child at home

Here are some strategies to help support your student at home:

-Go through the assignments on my website/ Schoology and compare to your student's agenda and ask your child to show you their completed assignments. They can then check them off in their agenda. Students should be writing in their agendas daily.

-Look at my weekly slide on Schoology for upcoming assignments, quizzes, updates, and re-assessments.

-Check Powerschool with your child regularly.

-Encourage your child to handle missing, late, or absent work on their own by speaking with me one on one after class or sending me an email (this is usually the quickest, most effective, and student-centered way). If your child received a zero on an assignment it is because I did not receive the assignment from them.

-Ask them each week how they are studying, and encourage them to interact with their notes by revisiting them and adding questions or additional information in a different color. Encourage them to create a Kahoot or Quizizz to study.

-Encourage your student to take advantage of reassessment opportunities after a quiz.

-Lastly, encourage your child to make an appointment to meet with me if they would like additional support.
