Mr. Young Room 35

WELCOME CLASS 2022-2023!

Welcome students and parents.  I'm Mr. Young and I teach 6th grade Math, Science, Engineering and Robotics.  I'm so excited to have your children in my classroom and I look forward to a wonderful year.  This is the place to double-check homework assignments.  If you have any questions, email is the best way to get a hold of me.  My email is [email protected].  I look forward to meeting you and have a fun, productive year with your child!

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:

I believe to be most effective instructor one must create a safe environment that is interactive and collaborative and that promotes problem-solving and critical thinking skills. A welcoming environment accommodates a variety of student learning styles and encourages students to present their opinions while respecting the opinions of others. By giving students a voice in class, not only do the students benefit from peer to peer learning by enriching the course material with personal experiences and knowledge, but they also take responsibility for their own learning.  Therefore, enhance the integration of their new knowledge into practice. Promoting independent thinking is essential so that students can take what they have learned and apply it in real-life situations. Therefore, my endeavor is to make my classroom an arena for students to learn skills and demonstrate their outcomes.

TEACHING EXPECTATIONS:

* Create a safe and welcoming environment.

* Teaching students to take responsibility, for their actions.

* Promote independent thinking.

* Giving my students a voice in the classroom.

* Having students interact with one another expressing their ideas, opinions, and facts.

PLANNER'S

Hi Parents,

This is a reminder to please be sure to check your child's planner or agenda every night and to also check PowerSchool once a week.  This is the best way to help your student stay on top of their assignments and to communicate with me.  It is so important that you are aware of what is going on in our classroom so that we can all support these students and give them a successful, academic school year!
